Are the trainees allowed to take iron box to Infosys's Mysore campus?

A2A so here it is.....
I have already answered it in other question, but lets repeat -
Do's and Dont's :
Firstly, I would like to mention list of Dont's :
  1. Pendrive
  2. CD/DVD
  3. Hard Disk
  4. Laptop
  5. Desktop
  6. Arms and Ammunition
  7. Iron Box
  8. Kettle
  9. Any Cooking Utensil / Appliances
Do,s
You know Dont's now, so remove these items from your packing and you are good to go. Yes you can carry your iPad, Camera, Smartphone/s, Make-Up Kit, Medicines, Straightner/Curler/Dryer and what not.
But I would suggest you to keep your luggage lite. Salon is inside campus so you can easily get yourself groomed.
All the best!
Thanks :)

Does Infosys allow Facebook and twitter at their offices? What is life at Infosys like?

Yes, from January 2016 Infosys revised the Internet policy and have included more categories which can be accessed via company's network. The categories included are,

Craziest Story you heard in Mysore?

This will be the first story it will come in mind for all the employees who stayed in Mysore for training if you ask for some craziest stories.

We all know there are many ECC's to provide accommodation for employees but the scary ECC is the building very next to Oasis food court.I don't remember the building number but I am sure its very next to oasis FC and its girls ECC.

There comes the story...One fine day a new joined for infosys was provided accommodation in that particular ECC and when she stepped into her room, she found her roommate combing the hair and watching TV. She didnt bit a hi or hello.

How was your Experience in Mysore Training?

Rajat Kumar
Being the first job after my college life, it felt that I have board another ride for college semester, but have more assignments and paper to write. And Of course a hell lot of enjoyment that you adore in your coming life.
I trained at Infosys Mysore for the period of 4 months and it was one hell of a ride, filled with memories and memories... The tension of exam after every 15 days(sometime even less), the enjoyment of Friday night playing dumb charades, eating dominos pizza, spending whole night chatting with your friends about your experience till life and many more life experience that I will carry with me for whole life.
The things that I still miss and remember are a lot, the class campus with almost every amenity to learn, play and relax. Taking from the classrooms to the swimming pool, racing track to the football field, multiplex to the empty lawns, it contains every form entertainment that you want to indulge. Being a non-it person till I joined, I never felt that it was necessary to be from IT background(but it will be helpful, if you are), the institute trains all from a beginner's point of view.
One thing that make the Infosys Mysore standout are the iconic structures,
1. Multiplex
2. Global Education Center(GEC)
It was a great once in a life experience which I will cherish all my life.....
PS: I also learnt to swim here by the help of one friend, so it not only train in IT aspects...

Is Infosys Mysore DC beautiful? How Relevant is Mysore training ?

Ah! Mysore DC! The place to be!

I was one of the few lucky ones who never missed my home during my stay in Mysore DC because I was from the same city!

But the experience prepared me well to face a lot of things:
  • To be out of home
  • To understand what a night-out meant (I never did night-outs during engineering)
  • To realize the fact that people come from a variety of backgrounds, and have different aspirations in life

I fell in love with a batch mate, got rejected, saw her going with a good friend.. and I finally moved on.

Made a few great friends who in always in touch and were very supportive even though we never got to see each other's faces again.

It was an extended college life for me. Few of my classmates, who were extremely good friends were around. And we all together built a great network of friends who always helped each other for everything.

We had a ritual.. the guy who topped a test would treat the rest of the gang at the Gazebo. It would be a samosa or a shared cold coffee, but it was always fun.

Made full use of the GEC-2 library! Got to read a lot of books, both technical and non-technical.

Incidentally, got posted to Mysore itself, so had to send off all friends who moved to different locations! And that was the hardest part!

The tough training there made me face challenges, and that's the reason I'm in IISc today! (Never used anything they taught in training during my 15-month stint as a Test Engineer!)

Describe Infosys Mysore Training in three words.

Graceful, Grandiose, August. I shall use these three words to describe a training which helps you to find everything best for yourself. You feel the paradigm shift in your life and the way you handle and the way you see yourself.
Let us talk about Education which they provide:

  • Infosys-Mysore campus has two humongous GEC (Global Education Center)  where the classes are delivered.
  • You've never coded in your Life before. No Problem. Starting with basic concepts of Algorithms and Operating System, you'll learn simply almost everything which is required to learn coding whether you take Programming Database or Web Development.
  • you'll be parted in streams according to the business needs, your score in the First General Module and many points which trainees possibly wouldn't know or get.
  • You'll be learning from the best people who're in the business. Even I was fortunate enough to have classes taken by Vice President about Software Engineering and UI Development.
  • Examination always hover over you while you're in training. You possibly need to carry average 65 percentage to pass successfully the training(which becomes easy when you have learned people to explain you.).

Accommodation:

  • Infosys provides best hostel facilities(called as Employee Care Centers) to its trainees. For Boys, it gives single rooms and on sharing basis for girls.
  • The fully furnished AC room  contains possibly everything.
  • House keeping staff treats you in the best way possible. Even if you call the House keeping in middle of the night to need anything, you'll always get pleasant responses.

Food:
  • Campus has 6 food courts and a floating restaurant which serve you varieties of cuisines. (you can have Dominoes pizzas at subsidized rates..:p)
  • To take care of your hygiene, even spoons are kept in the warm water pot.
  • Everyone stands in proper line to have food. even if a VP is standing behind you and he won't ask for a favor to give him space.

    Entertainment:

    • Biggest attraction on Campus you can say is the multiplex. You get to watch the movies which are currently releasing absolutely for free.
    • Infosys-Mysore has recreation center where you get to play Table tennis, Lawn Tennis, Squash, Badminton, Snooker, Basketball and Bowling.
    • Recreation Center has also a Small hypermarket, a mobile service provider's stores(Vodafone, Airtel, DoCoMo)
    • It also has a bank on the campus. So one does not require to go out to carry out banking transactions.
    • Infosys-Mysore has two beautiful Gyms to take care of your health properly along with a swimming pool.
    • Infosys-Mysore has a beautiful Cricket Ground as well as Football ground.
    • You also get to do adventure sports such as rock climbing on campus.

    Cultural Diversity:
  • Since Infosys hires from all over india, you get to meet people from all round the country. You get to meet people, make new friends, and exchange beautiful cultural knowledge.
  • Infosys HR makes sure that your stay at Mysore campus is best. They even arrange monthly DJ parties on various occasions.
  • At GEC, We've musical fountain show at every weekend's evening which is very peace bringing.
  • Infosys-Mysore has a travel desk from where you get to know the places which are nearby and you get Taxis easily.
   On boarding:
  • After Successful Completion of Training, we get to have a beautiful batch photograph in front of the GEC so that you can cherish the moments for the lifetime.
  • At Posted Location, They even provide you the Bus services DC to DC, as well as a 7 day stay at Infosys campus where you've been posted.

Stay at Infosys Mysore was the best experience of my life till now. And Recently, Our CEO Dr. Sikka has also told our honorable Prime Minister Mr. Modi that He shall help to build smart cities as Mysore Campus which has nearly 30000 people on campus at any given time.

What it is Like to be trained at infosys Mysore?

1. You get air conditioned rooms with plasma tv and attached bath. The housekeeping staff clean your room everyday. There are laundromats in hostel basements and paid laundry service too. You would love your room, yet you wouldn't spend much time in it. You would be at the Global Education Center (GEC) attending classes and preparing for module tests. On weekends you would be roaming around in Mysore or any nearby hill station.

2. The hostels are a bit away from the GECs and the bicycles are limited. If you aren't an early riser, you would have to run all the way from your hostel to your classroom in order to get attendance.

3. There are many food courts and you would never be short of variety. You get food from all corners of the country and in a way it's awesome because you develop a taste for snacks like 'Bisi Bele Bath' and 'Set Dosa', things you've never had before.

4. They show movies, the latest ones, on the weekends. You have to stand in queue to get a ticket, which is actually free of cost.

5. If you're fond of gymming/bowling/tennis/ swimming/cricket, the campus is heaven for you, but again, manage your time well, so as to maintain a balance between your hobbies and the training.

6. There's a shop called the 'Loyal World' that has almost anything that you'd need.

7. There's Gazebo, right behind GEC1 that houses the smoking area and a shop that sells cold drinks, patties and chips.

8. There's Dominos, at subsidized rates!

9. There are people from all over the country and the kind of exposure that you get inside this campus cannot be matched by any university/college/company.

10. The curriculum is rigorous. How you perform in the module tests also affects how much you earn post training.

Day spent in the Mysore campus are the most cherished days of any Infoscion. You make friends, fall in love, lose friends, try learning a new language, earn money for the first time in your life, learn how to spend your hard earned money, feel proud after transferring some of it home, move out of the campus with heavy hearts and tearful goodbyes!

PS - Based on experiences from the training batch of Sep 2008.

What it is Like to be trained at infosys Mysore?

Most of the facts have been answered by Aniruddha Khosla already. Just a few add ons or highlights may be:
Mysore DC: The place to be...
I tell this from my experience as a pass out of February 2012 batch. For my interest in Academics and love for the Campus I joined the Education & Research department itself and worked as an Educator there until July 2013.
1) Its definitely a world-class training center that competes well with standards of Universities internationally. I have been staying in Germany for a year and a half now but infrastructure and facilities of Mysore DC is still a tough competition.
2) You have a lot to gain in your academics, specially during your 'Specialized' training period.
3) If i miss anything the most, its the GEC-2 royal library with  some really expensive books.
4) Recreation center that includes a 'Common' swimming pool. ;)

As i would sum it up, the 4-month period of my life in Campus where I lived like a royalty. :)
PS: An acquaintance of mine would often say 'Infosys training made a Man out of me.' :) .
